Caution

(1) Measurements

  • Thermometer readings should be regarded as a reference. Do no attempt self-diagnostics or self-treatment using the temperature readings. Please seek professional medical advice when necessary.
  • There is no absolute standard for human body temperature. Knowing your own normal body temperature range is important to accurately determine if you have a fever.
  • Make sure that the forehead of the subject is free from sweat, cosmetics, dirt, or grease before measuring.
  • Patients should not drink, eat, or be physically active before/while taking a reading. Wait 30 minutes before taking a measurement. Temperature readings taken when a body is in a state of stable equilibrium is more accurate and useful as a reference.
  • Do not take temperature measurement over scar tissue, open sores or abrasions.
  • Do not measure body temperature from scar tissues on the forehead as such tissues will affect temperature conduction of the body.
  • If there is a temperature difference between the thermometer storage area and the new ambient environment around the forehead, please let the thermometer sit within the new environment for 30 minutes before taking the measurement.
  • Do not measure body temperature immediately after consuming a drug that raises body temperature. Temperature readings taken at this time will not be accurate.
  • It is normal for readings taken from continuous measurement to fluctuate within a small range. During continuous measurements, the subject’s body temperature may be transmitted to the thermometer, affecting measurement accuracy. We recommend taking only up to 3 continuous readings within a short period.
  • Do not directly face the sun or an air outlet of an air conditioning or radiator device during the measurement as this will cause changes to the forehead temperature. Measurements should be taken in a stable environment where possible.
  • Do not measure body temperature in an environment with strong EM interference (examples include places close to a working microwave, induction cooker, or cellphone in-use) as EM interference may cause errors in the reading or even device failure.
  • This product should be considered a personal device. Clean and sanitize the product properly to prevent cross-contamination.
  • To clean a dirty thermometer probe, gently swipe the probe using a cotton swab dipped in 75% alcohol. Let the cleaned thermometer sit for at least 15 minutes before taking more measurements.
  • This infrared thermometer meets requirements established in ASTM Standard (E1965-98) Except of clause 5.2.2. It displays subject’s temperature over a range of 89.6°F-109.2°F.

Caution

iHealth PT3 thermometer is a high-tech infra-red (IR) thermometer designed to take human body temperature by measuring the energy of IR emitted from the forehead.

One of the highlights of this product is 1-Second Testing. Compared with digital pen-like thermometer, it needs less test time , easy-to-use and does not disturb (no fuss). It’s quite convenient for those people who want to know their body temperature in a short time and quite easy to test baby temperature.

Accurate Measurement with Built-in Advanced Thermopile Sensor

iHealth Non-Contact Forehead Thermometer measures thermal radiation from the surface of the human body. Pressing the button begins data collection for 100 tests completed within 1 second and processed by an algorithm that ensures accurate temperature readings.

Higher Accuracy with Built-In Distance and Environmental Temperature Sensors with Compensation Ability

iHealth Non-Contact Forehead Thermometer senses the real-time variations in environmental temperature to reduce the impact and compensates to ensure measurement accuracy. This thermometer will not take a reading if the distance between the probe and the forehead is greater than 1.18 in (3cm) to prevent errors.

Extremely easy to use

One button, 1-second testing, only 3 steps (Aim, press and display result)

Undisturbed measurement design

To ensure undisturbed measurement, we use this 1.18 in measurement distance no-touch design, and the thermometer vibrates silently once the reading is complete.

Clear Display

The LED backlight display, screen size: 1.01 in x 0.75 in large display, easy to read in day and night. The light is not bright and will not disturb the sleeping baby. Auto power-off after 8 seconds without operation.

Step-1

Aim the thermometer probe at the center of the forehead from less than 1.18 in (3cm) away.

Step-2

Gently press the measurement button to begin the test.

Step-3

The thermometer vibrates noiselessly once the reading is complete.

Not all of the forehead surface is appropriate for measurement. Because the distribution of subcutaneous vessels is different from place to place, we recommend the center of the forehead surface for the correct measurement position for iHealth PT3. All of the results measured from other parts of the forehead may not be accurate.

iHealth thermometer PT3

Measurement position: center of the forehead surface

Keep the probe 1.18 in (3cm) away from the forehead. (the optimal distance is about the width of an adult’s index finger)

iHealth thermometer is only designed to test the human body temperature with the measurement position as the center of the forehead surface. It is not designed to measure objects and ambient temperatures.

  • Always hold the thermometer when taking a reading. Do not move the thermometer until you feel the final vibration.
  • Don’t take a measurement while or immediately after nursing a baby.
  • Users should not drink, eat, or be physically active before/while taking the measurement.
  • Remove hats and wait 30 minutes before taking a measurement.
  • Before taking a measurement, remove dirt or hair from the forehead area. Wait 30 minutes after cleaning before taking a measurement.
  • Always take the temperature exactly as directed. Temperature results may vary if positioned in the wrong location.

Medical research hasn’t determined an exact correlation between oral, rectal, ear, armpit, and forehead temperature measurements. Generally, the correlation of temperature results are as follows:

  • The average normal oral temperature is 98.6°F (37°C).
  • A rectal temperature is 0.5°F (0.3°C) to 1°F (0.6°C) higher than an oral temperature.
  • An ear (tympanic) temperature is 0.5°F (0.3°C) to 1°F (0.6°C) higher than an oral temperature.
  • An armpit (axillary) temperature is usually 0.5°F (0.3°C) to 1°F (0.6°C) lower than an oral temperature.
  • A forehead (temporal) scanner is usually 0.5°F (0.3°C) to 1°F (0.6°C) lower than an oral temperature.

The reference body site of PT3 is oral. Please compare with oral temperature from the testing result. Ear and rectal temperatures are normally higher than oral and forehead temperatures.

When people develop a fever, the heat conduction will take time to arrive at the forehead, there is a time gap. Suggest measuring every 5 minutes until the temperature stabilizes.

Your temperature doesn’t stay same all day, and it will vary throughout your lifetime, too. Some things that cause your temperature to move around during the day include:

  • How active you are
  • What time of day it is
  • Your age
  • Your sex
  • What you’ve eaten or had to drink
  • (If you’re a woman) where you are in your menstrual cycle.
